Do you feel uneasy about a draft contract for a new project?

These days, commercial construction contracts are highly legalistic documents, full of traps for the unwary.

Which is why, when you are looking at a new contract, you can sometimes feel like:

  • you're not sure what a clause means, or why it's there,
  • you are concerned that you might be missing something, or
  • you're not sure whether you are worrying too much about a contract (or perhaps not worrying enough).

If this sounds familiar, this workshop is for you.

This is an easy way to get direct access to specialist construction law expertise, and to get to see how we work, without having to worry about the cost.

About this workshop

This is a 1 hour workshop, conducted via video-conference (Zoom), with a senior construction lawyer, to discuss a contract for a specific project.

During the workshop:

  • we will ask you questions and provide suggestions, to make sure you are focusing on the right areas,
  • you will ask questions and have the opportunity to 'pick the brains' of a highly experienced lawyer, and
  • we will work with you to develop a clear strategy for dealing with the contract.

The price of the workshop is $875+GST.

Workshops can usually be accommodated within 3-5 business days of receiving your request.

The workshop format is highly informal, and extremely flexible. (Despite the depth of their expertise, you will find our lawyers to be very approachable, down-to-earth people.)

There is no limit to the number or types of question you can ask.  It is not uncommon for the conversation to focus on things that hadn't even been considered before the start of the session.

What you'll get

By the time the workshop is finished, you will have a clear picture of:

  • key risk areas that require your attention,
  • potential strategies for managing those risks, and
  • what you will need to do next, regardless of where you are up to in the process (eg reviewing a contract, preparing tender qualifications, negotiating amendments etc).

Through the course of the workshop, you will also gain valuable insights that will be relevant to all of the contracts you review.

Written advice is not included as part of this offer, but can be purchased separately.

What types of project is this for?

We are happy to discuss most types of contract, on any site within Australia.

The main exceptions are private residential projects and projects where we may have a conflict of interests (ie we have an existing relationship with someone else involved in the project).

We are familiar with all of the major forms of contract and work with clients at all levels of the contracting chain.

What happens after you complete the form?

Once you have submitted your request for a workshop, we will call you to:

  • learn more about you and your requirements,
  • confirm there is no potential conflict of interests, and
  • ask you for some more information to assist in the workshop, including a copy of the contract, and seek to set up a time.
