Private client
The firm has provided legal advice and assistance to private clients since its inception in 1911, and continues to do so. Many of our private clients, and before them their parents and grandparents, have been clients of the firm for many years.
We have considerable experience in assisting private clients in most areas where legal assistance is required.
However, if we think our clients will be better served by having another firm act for them, we tell them that: we don’t provide legal services unless we are confident that we have the necessary expertise.
In areas where we do not practise, such as family law disputes, personal injury litigation and criminal law, we refer our clients to other law firms that we trust and which we know have the appropriate expertise. We can also refer our clients to other professional advisors, such as tax planners and accountants, as appropriate.
Examples of private client services we provide are:
- conveyancing services
- preparing wills, including testamentary trusts and powers of attorney
- looking after deceased estates, including claims by and against those estates
- assisting with investments made by private clients (both transactional and disputed)
- general counsel and advice
