It’s up to you to decide how you wish to structure your application and what to include. All we ask is that your application be no more than two pages, regardless of the position. We prefer all applications to be sent as a Word file to careers@turtons.com.

01

The first part of our interview process involves a relatively informal session with our practice manager and usually a lawyer (who may be a principal, depending on the position).

The main purpose of this interview is:

  • for you to meet us, and for us to meet you,
  • to exchange information that may not be obvious from our website or from your application, and
  • for both of us to assess, from initial impressions, whether we might be a good fit for one another.

02

If both of us are happy with the outcomes of the ‘first fit’, you will come back for a second session. This session is very different to the first.

The purpose of this session is to give you the opportunity to show us what you can do and to demonstrate how you like to work. Although we try to make this session as fun and stress-free as possible, we acknowledge that it is possibly the most challenging part of the interview process.

Every new staff member goes through this process, regardless of position. Most of the exercises are exactly the same, whether you are applying for a support role or for a senior lawyer position. Some exercises might resemble something that you might do at work, but most will not. Some things will involve a computer, others will not. Because of this, it’s not something you can prepare for. The most important thing is just to be yourself.

03

The final part of the process involves a very informal interview with one of the principals. This is the last opportunity for each of us to evaluate our fit, before making a final decision.

At this point it is just as important for you to be thinking about how we might fit in with you as it is for us to be thinking about how you would fit in with us.

We also think it is important for you to have met at least one principal before you begin, to make sure you have as deep an understanding of the firm as possible for someone who doesn’t work here.

04

Generally we notify all applicants of our decision within 3-4 working days of the final interview.
